About Us:
We are a well-established company in the construction industry, and we are looking for an experienced Accounting Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), with at least 3 years of relevant experience. Position Overview:
The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, including handling Construction Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), Payroll (PR), and payroll related functions. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Hours:
- Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Salary:
- $23.00 to $25.00 per hour depending on experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Receivable (AR): Manage and process AR for construction projects, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing.
- Accounts Payable (AP): Process and track vendor invoices, process credit card statements and ensure timely payments, and maintain accurate AP records.
- Payroll (PR): Payroll processing, entering and balancing time, tracking hours, verifying employee time sheets ensuring accurate payroll disbursements and processing weekly payroll taxes and deductions.
- New Hire Paperwork: Complete and process new hire documentation, W-4s, and other required employment forms.
- Employee Online Training: Support in the set up and management of employee online training programs, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- Union Dues: Track and process union dues, ensuring accurate deductions and timely submissions to the appropriate organizations.
- Reporting: Prepare weekly and monthly reports for project managers and accounting manager.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), ideally within a construction-related industry.
- Strong understanding of Construction AR and AP processes.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with payroll processing and handling union dues.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Iowa sales and use tax
- Knowledge of relevant labor laws and regulations.
- Experience with Construction AIA billing forms
