Holiday Sparkle Lighting is seeking a dependable, safety-minded individual to join our team as a part-time permanent and holiday lighting installer.

This position involves installing permanent outdoor lighting and seasonal holiday lighting on residential and commercial properties throughout Eastern Iowa.

Position Overview

This is a part-time position with hours that vary throughout the year based on project schedules, weather, and customer demand.

Our busiest season is typically October through December, when more consistent hours may be available for seasonal holiday lighting installations.

Outside of the busy holiday season, this is an as-needed position supporting permanent lighting installations. Applicants must be willing to work occasional and irregular weekdays and weekends during the slower season. Hours are not guaranteed and may vary significantly from week to week.

Initial training and installations will be completed alongside the owner. After training, the installer must be willing and able to complete assigned tasks independently and without constant on-site supervision.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys physical, hands-on work, is comfortable working outdoors, pays close attention to detail, communicates well, and takes safety seriously.

Responsibilities

• Travel to residential job sites throughout the Iowa City & Cedar Rapids area.
• Install custom Christmas lighting on homes according to the customer's design.
• Install lights on gutters, rooflines, trees, bushes and other landscaping.
• Install wreaths, garland, and other decorative items.
• Install permanent Gemstone lighting systems along residential rooflines and soffits.
• Assist with permanent lighting installation, including mounting tracks, running wiring, and installing controllers and power components.
• Route and secure wiring so cords and connections are hidden whenever possible.
• Ensure lights and permanent lighting tracks are straight, evenly spaced, secure, and professionally installed.
• Test all lighting, controls, and timers before leaving the job site.
• Maintain a clean and organized job site.
• Safely use ladders and other roof equipment, including pitch hoppers and goat ladders.
• Communicate professionally with customers while working at their homes.
• Help load and unload equipment at the beginning and end of each workday.

Experience

Previous Christmas light installation, landscaping, construction, pressure washing, window cleaning, or similar experience is a plus but not required.
