Job Location: District Campus
Reports To: Director of Buildings and Grounds; Superintendent
Full Time
Job Overview: The Buildings and Grounds Worker performs a variety of duties focused on the upkeep of the District's buildings and campus; performing a variety of repair, maintenance, and landscaping duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintains safe work environment

Performs grounds care
-
Performs work to prevent premature deterioration of building grounds and equipment

Performs emergency work when required after hours
-
Participates in all safety trainings as directed.

Performs duties assigned as a member of the grounds care team

Performs landscaping chores and cleanup of school grounds
-
Assists in providing the necessary safeguards to prevent loss of school property

Uses equipment including but not limited to:
-
Vehicles and trailers
-
Hand and power tools
-
Light duty grounds care equipment
-
Typical non specialized construction and repair tools
-

Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures
-
Provides support in the area of boiler maintenance
-
Provides support in the area of HVAC maintenance
-
Performs minor carpenter repairs
-
Performs minor plumbing repairs
-
Performs minor electrical repairs
-
Performs minor wall repairs
-
Performs minor painting repairs
-
Work assignments may require interior and exterior work in varying weather conditions
-
Work assignments may require working on ladders, scaffolding and lifts.

Assists with snow removal.
-
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
-
High school diploma or GED preferred
-
Experience in buildings and grounds work preferred
-
Experience in any of the trades listed above, i.e. general carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards

Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
The Mount Vernon Community School District is an EEO/AA employer.
Two weeks vacation for first year of service, two personal days per year, $630 per month allotment toward insurance, 40 hours medical leave for first year of service.
