Buildings & Grounds Worker

Job Location: District Campus

Reports To: Director of Buildings and Grounds; Superintendent

Full Time

Job Overview: The Buildings and Grounds Worker performs a variety of duties focused on the upkeep of the District's buildings and campus; performing a variety of repair, maintenance, and landscaping duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Maintains safe work environment

2. Performs grounds care

3. Performs work to prevent premature deterioration of building grounds and equipment

4. Performs emergency work when required after hours

5. Participates in all safety trainings as directed.

6. Performs duties assigned as a member of the grounds care team

7. Performs landscaping chores and cleanup of school grounds

8. Assists in providing the necessary safeguards to prevent loss of school property

9. Uses equipment including but not limited to:

   1. Vehicles and trailers

   2. Hand and power tools 

   3. Light duty grounds care equipment

   4. Typical non specialized construction and repair tools

10. Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures

11. Provides support in the area of boiler maintenance

12. Provides support in the area of HVAC maintenance

13. Performs minor carpenter repairs

14. Performs minor plumbing repairs

15. Performs minor electrical repairs

16. Performs minor wall repairs

17. Performs minor painting repairs

18. Work assignments may require interior and exterior work in varying weather conditions

19. Work assignments may require working on ladders, scaffolding and lifts.

20. Assists with snow removal.

21. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED preferred

• Experience in buildings and grounds work preferred

• Experience in any of the trades listed above, i.e. general carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards

• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
