What You’ll Do:

• Provide leadership and supervision to the officers in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the Waukon Police Department.
• Support, mentor, and empower officers to reach their full potential.
• Ensure effective delivery of law enforcement services to Waukon.
• Work directly with citizens and staff to resolve problems/conflicts in a manner which commands public and employee respect and confidence at all times.
• Perform all the essential duties and responsibilities of a patrol officer.
• During the absence of the Police Chief, the Assistant Chief will be designated as the officer in charge of the Department.

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, public administration or related field.
• Certified as a peace officer through the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy meeting state POST requirements).
• Minimum of six years experience of experience as an officer, including three years in a supervisory position.
• Skilled in conflict resolution, employee relations, and team development.
