GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
The instructor is responsible for fostering student learning through effectively teaching coursework in the area of areas of nursing and general health courses for the Nursing department. This position will involve days, evenings and/or weekends, with a varying schedule between classroom, simulation, lab, and clinic focused teaching. The faculty must develop, implement and evaluate instruction, and report and record student achievement in assigned courses in accordance with department, division and college policies and procedures. Teaching responsibilities include lecture, laboratory, simulation, and clinical practice settings. Responsibilities will also include mentoring and remediation of current students and providing assistance in development and implementation of departmental initiatives.
The Clinical Coordinator will be given 26 hours credit load per academic year (10 credits fall, 10 credits spring, 6 credits summer). The Clinical Coordinator will schedule contracted days to meet all requirements which include first and second half of summer semester and semester breaks.
Teaching schedule will be assigned by the dean. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the instructor will be expected to contribute professional expertise through non-teaching activities to the department, program, and college. The instructor will be responsible for meeting the goals and objectives of an individual Professional Preparation Plan as outlined by the College's Quality Faculty Plan.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Coordinate and schedule student, adjunct, and full-time faculty clinical, lab, and simulation experiences.
- Coordinate and schedule student observation experiences.
- Identify current and emerging trends and opportunities in the Nursing discipline to ensure the development and retention of adjunct faculty to meet Nursing program laboratory, clinical, and simulation requirements.
- Promote Nursing adjunct faculty development; recommend, coordinate, and lead activities to meet adjunct faculty development and program goals related to clinical and lab.
- Plan, coordinate, and promote Nursing adjunct programming and initiatives with the department faculty in collaboration with the Associate Dean.
- Develop and maintain clinical agency relationships.
- Assist in faculty workload decisions to insure appropriate staffing, equity, and efficient resource utilization.
- Coordinate with Clinical Leads to develop, implement, evaluate, and revise clinical practicum process improvements through leadership of the Clinical Lead Committee.
- Submit student information to clinical sites.
- Verify student compliance to meet college and facility requirements.
- Continually update Talon-Current students with up-to-date information regarding clinical site requirements
- Facilitate and run adjunct retreat for fall and spring semester.
- Provide professional development opportunities to adjunct faculty for the lab and clinical setting.
- Collection and storage of preceptor visit forms and foundations 2 clinical summative evaluation forms
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

Scheduling Related:
- Determine the number of sites needed and schedule dates for clinical, preceptorship, and community experiences.
- Collaborate with the Simulation Center, Simulation Coordinator, Program Director, and Clinical Lead to ensure the scheduling of lab, clinic, observations, simulations, and class times do not overlap.
- Primary responsibility for the scheduling of faculty for all clinical, sim, and lab experiences.
- Creation of the lab, clinical, sim schedule
- Coordination with the Associate dean for level scheduling
- Coordinate and schedule EPIC training at Mercy Medical Center.

Community-Partner Related:
- Communicate and coordinate with clinical sites.
- Ensure that all clinical sites have an up-to-date clinical contract (affiliate agreement).
- Attend the Corridor Coordinating Council meetings and other facility meetings.

Student Related:
- Communicate via Talon, e-mail, and/or phone with students/adjunct faculty.
- Collaborate with staff and Clinical Leads to ensure student compliance.
- Collaborate with staff and clinical leads to ensure student facility compliance.
- Assign students’ clinical sites and make-up dates/time.
- Manage and resolve student clinical/lab conflicts.
- Communicate with students regarding clinical assignment issues and concerns in conjunction with Clinical Lead.
- Design, schedule, and follow-up student clinical remediation in coordination with Course Clinic Lead.
- Clinical lead responsibilities 2nd half of summer semester.
- Track and administer student awards to course leads
- Work with clinical lead faculty to manage clinical and lab student concerns.
- Work with clinical lead faculty to develop and implement clinical remediation plans.

Adjunct Faculty Related:
- Assign adjunct faculty to clinical sites or labs and make-up dates/time.
- Coordinate Adjunct Orientation Days.
- Orient adjunct faculty in collaboration with Associate Dean
- Track adjunct faculty and student clinic absences.
- Evaluate adjunct faculty with input from Clinical Lead and student evaluations and provide input for follow up from Associate Dean of Nursing as needed.
- Communicate with adjuncts regarding clinical assignment issues and concerns in conjunction with Clinical Lead.
- Manage and resolve adjunct faculty clinical/lab conflicts.
- Revise and develop policies for the Clinical Adjunct section of the Faculty Handbook.
- Verify adjunct and full-time faculty meet compliance requirements prior to clinical rotation.
- Management of faculty concerns related to clinical sites

Preceptorship Related:
- In coordination with the Preceptorship Program Lead, determine preceptorship needs.
- Coordinate with clinical site liaisons to obtain preceptors.
- Coordinate with clinical sites regarding student concerns or issues.

Meeting Related:
- Conduct and attend two clinical committee meetings during the fall and spring semesters of each academic year.
- Review clinical committee agenda ideas with the Associate Dean.
- Formulate and provide clinical committee agendas for each meeting.
- Provide handouts and materials at each clinical meeting for all committee members as necessary.
- Construct and deliver clinical meeting minutes to committee members for review and approval.
- Archive meeting minutes
- Meet monthly during the fall and spring semesters with Clinical Leads to develop clinical process improvements. Meeting agendas and minutes of this meeting are informal with recommendations brought forward to the NEDO Clinical Committee for review and approval by the full faculty.
- Planning and leading adjunct retreat in the fall and spring semester.
- Clinical on-site meetings as needed
- Participation and data updates for advisory meetings

Accreditation/Regulatory Related
- Ensure currency of all required clinical agency contracts.
- Ensure measurement and tracking of clinical agency issues, clinical agency surveys, clinical remediations, clinical incidents, and process improvements developed to address these issues.

Hiring
- Review applicants in NeoEd for all staffing needs. Interview all applicants and communicate with Associate Dean for processing of applications.
- Communicate with prospective adjunct applicants
- Create and posting of recruitment of adjunct faculty

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- Masters in nursing education or actively working toward.
- Two years’ clinical experience in nursing.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse.
PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
- MSN in Nursing Education preferred.
